A California native, Carla is a writer, forager, sustainability explorer looking for different/alternative ideas to our current lifestyle addictions. She leans more toward plant food and medicine minus the spirituality she feels has overtaken the knowledge.
“The knowledge is here, but for some who are turned off by the spirituality aspect there are few places to explore or learn about it without that bend.”
In addition to being the host for the Wild Arkansas videos, Tania brings to us a love of different cultures and food. She experiments regularly with different types of foods we gather and at times makes something nearly unpalatable into something not only healthy, but delicious.
Her knowledge about different cultures enables us to experiment with various tastes and methods of preparation.
Gloria wears many hats for Wild Arkansas. Among them: writer, cook, researcher, chauffeur and diplomat. She jumps in wherever she’s needed and even in the worst possible circumstances assuages our fears of complete and dismal failure.
Together, we believe the corporate food production system in our society is making us ill. We have more incidence of chemical imbalances and mental health issues than any other time in history and think part of that come from the things we feed ourselves and our children.
Though most of us don’t have the same resources our parents and grandparents did (land to grow our food on) there are things we can do to help insure a better future…
A good primer to find out where your food is coming from is to watch the film Food Inc.
Please also read about the studies on how the industrialized food system has changed our mental health.

I don’t know why I have never came across your site before and I am going to share it with our group here in Oklahoma. I am enjoying reading about your foraging. My family comes from Grapevine, Arkansas. Maybe we will meet in the future. Jackie

I’m living in Siloam Springs now, so I’m a bit closer to you.
