Mature Health

Health is usually something we don’t think about unless we’re ill. We take it for granted on a regular basis. It’s illness that gets our attention most of the time, and generally illness involves pain–that’s why it gets our full attention.

With luck and a bit of work, we won’t have to deal with much illness, but it’s rare that anyone really does all the things they need to do to maintain and improve their health.

Mature health is about becoming more informed and taking a pro-active stance in regard to your own health. Generally, we allow the doctors to tell us what’s wrong and what we should do. Here I’ll explore the alternatives.

The blog focuses on health in a variety of ways. I prefer natural ways to maintain health if possible. I use herbs as often as possible and living in Arkansas there are is an abundant supply of native medicinal herbs that I’ve just begun to harvest.

Wild Arkansas is a weekly column about wildcrafting [hunting and identifying] herbs in Arkansas.

Late Bloomer is a weekly column about enjoying midlife, organic gardening and a few other things.

To your health.
